The collapse of the
Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh in 2013 took the lives of over 1,100 garment
workers and highlighted the need to promote decent work in global supply
chains. Working closely with the country’s government and its social partners,
the ILO has played a leading role in the response to the Rana Plaza tragedy.
